2019 is upon us and many people may be wondering what they can do to improve their health and wellbeing over the next 12 months and beyond.
It may be a cliché but many people see the New Year as an opportunity for a clean slate and to pursue things which can make their lives better and more fulfilled.
However, one of the main barriers to prevent people getting on with improving their lifestyle is basic lack of information – that is where the FYi Directory makes a huge difference.
The FYi Directory is an online one-stop-shop for information regarding health, social, community and childcare services on the Fylde Coast. The directory was launched by NHS Fylde and Wyre and NHS Blackpool Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), which plan and buy health services in the area, alongside other NHS and local authority partners.
If you are interested in joining a sports club or a gym, the FYi Directory will have the information you need. If you feel like you want to get out and meet new people, the FYi Directory will point you in the direction of clubs and societies you can join. And, if you have a health condition and would like to meet people going through the same thing, the FYI Directory will provide you information about support groups you can attend.
Dr Neil Hartley-Smith, a Blackpool GP who is clinical director for the Fylde Coast CCGs, said: “The FYi Directory is a valuable resource for people living on the Fylde Coast and since its inception has seen a huge increase in the amount of people using it. Putting the information that people require at their fingertips is vitally important to empowering them to make positive changes to their lives and we hope more and more people will utilise this service in the coming year.”
There are now over 3,000 groups, clubs and support networks on the FYi Directory and has already been used over 250,000 times since it was first launched.
