Update on development of primary care centre in Wesham

We would like to reassure patients of Kirkham Health Centre and Ash Tree House Surgery that plans for a new primary care centre in Wesham remain in place.

The former Wesham Hospital site has now been cleared and half of it remains vacant to allow for the building of the centre, which will house the two GP practices, as well as Kirkham Clinic and other health services for people living in the area.

We acknowledge there has been a lack of significant progress over the past years, which has been in part due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Discussions are currently taking place with the owners of the site to finalise lease agreements. This important step must be finalised prior to launching the tender process for architects and the subsequent commencement of building works.

We remain committed to involving local residents and patients in the design of the building and will provide further updates at the appropriate time.
